China imported 2.41 million tonnes of steel products over January-April 2024, falling 3.7% year on year, showed data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
The import value came in at $3.99 billion during the first four months, down 7.3% YoY. The average import price was calculated at $1,660.8/t, down 3.8% YoY.
Steel products imports reached 658,000 tonnes in April, up 12.5% YoY and 6.6% MoM. Import value climbed 8.6% YoY and 11.9% MoM to $1.12 billion, with the average import price at $1,707.4/t, down 3.5% YoY yet up 5.0% MoM.
China imported 410 million tonnes of iron ore and concentrates from January to April, up 7.2% YoY. Import amounts were $56.11 billion, rising 14.6% YoY, with the average import price at $125.3/t, up 6.9% YoY, showed data from the GAC.
In April, China imported 100 million tonnes of iron ore and concentrates, rising 12.6% YoY and 1.1% MoM. Imports were worth $11.52 billion, up 5.7% YoY yet declining 9.2% MoM. The average import price decreased 6.2% YoY and 10.2% MoM to $113.1/t.
